Privacy Policy

Ayah ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Ayah mobile application (the "App").
1. Information We Collect
Account Information. Ayah requires an account, created with Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. We receive the identifier your provider shares (and, if you choose to share it, your name and email address) to create and authenticate your account.
Learning Progress. Your learning data — learned words, review and practice progress, streaks, XP, and tutor session notes — is stored on your device and backed up to our servers (hosted on Supabase) so it can sync across your devices and be restored if you reinstall.
Camera Images. When you use the photo capture feature, the photograph is sent to an AI service for object identification. Images are processed in real time; the photos you choose to save with a word are stored with your synced library.
Live Tutor Calls (Ayah AI).During a call with Ayah AI, your microphone audio — and, on video calls, periodic camera frames — are streamed to our AI partner (Google's Gemini Live API) so the tutor can hear you and see what you show it. Audio and video are processed in real time to run the conversation and are not used by us to build any profile of you. The tutor keeps brief learning notes (for example, words you practiced and what to focus on next) in your synced learning data so your next call can continue where you left off.
Subscription Information. Payments are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not collect, process, or store payment details such as card numbers or billing addresses.
2. How We Use AI
- Photo capture, translations, stories, and summaries are powered by Anthropic's Claude models via our secure proxy.
- Live voice and video tutoringis powered by Google's Gemini Live API via short-lived, per-session tokens.
- Word and sentence audiois generated with Microsoft Azure's text-to-speech service.
- All AI traffic is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS/WSS connections.
- Your content is not used by us to train AI models.
3. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
- Anthropic (Claude) — object identification, translation, stories, and session summaries. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- Google (Gemini Live API, Google Sign-In) — live tutor calls and account sign-in. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Microsoft Azure Speech — Arabic text-to-speech audio.
- Supabase — authentication, secure API proxying, and encrypted storage of your synced learning data.
- Apple StoreKit / Google Play Billing — subscription management.
- Meta SDK — install and purchase attribution for our advertising (for example, knowing an ad led to an install). On iOS this respects your App Tracking Transparency choice.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party ads in the App.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Learning data is stored on your device and backed up to your account over encrypted connections.
- Live-call audio and video are processed in real time and are not recorded by us.
- Access to synced data is scoped to your account via authenticated, row-level security rules.
5. Children's Privacy
Ayah is designed for users aged 12 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
6. Your Rights
- Delete your account and data: In the App, go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account. This removes your account and synced learning data from our servers.
- Local data: Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data from your device.
- Manage subscriptions: Manage or cancel anytime through your Apple ID settings or Google Play subscription settings.
- Tracking:On iOS you can decline tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt or in Settings → Privacy & Security.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
